How would I transfer my plant to a larger pot? What kind of soil? Do I have to support the stem?

Orchids prefer to be potbound and the flower best when their roots are crowded. But if you think yours is in need of repotting, use an orchid mix which is mostly chipped bark. They prefer a well-drained, light and porous soil. As a general guideline, it's not a good idea to pot up in a much larger container than the plant size, as it's more difficult to maintain consistent soil moisture when the root system is small, and they won't bloom well until the roots fill the container. You should support the stem with a stake and you won't want to transplant if the plant is in bloom.
