|I have a yard of sod, it has been down a couple of years. It is doing very well except for a few patches of very thick bladded grass that has now appeared. It's lighter in color and growns taller than the surrounding sod. It seems to be spreading, it is not grabgrass for sure and regular weed control applications does nothing. Do you have any idea what this may be and how to get rid of it?

|I can't tell from your description what it might be so I think the best approach is to dig the weeds out, roots and all before they spread too far. Then take one of them (in a plastic bag) to your cooperative extension office or well staffed nursery for help with identification. Once you know what the weed is you can decide on the best control strategy that will eliminate the weeds without harming your turf. Best wishes with your garden!
