You should expect to keep the soil surface moist for at least 3 weeks after seeding.
As the new grass starts to grow, gradually cut back the frequency of the water application while increasing the amount of water that is applied with each application. The objective is to increase root depth by wetting the soil deeper as the plants grow. The goal is to eventually apply enough water, once per week, in one application to wet the soil 6-8 inches deep. After you've mowed your lawn 3 times you can feed it. Use a time release fertilizer with a 3-1-2 ratio of NPK (the 3 numbers on the label). Apply in amounts as indicated on the label - too much will burn your new lawn.

Regular watering, feeding and mowing will help your turf grow thick and strong enough to crowd out weeds. Enjoy!
