| I have a group of blackeyed susans and there leaves are all dark and spotty. I have others else where and they are fine. What would cause this and how should I treat them. I have basil and cilantro, and a tomato and a pepper plant near by so I don't want to harm my crop. Please advise. Thank you. |
| Leaf spots are caused by fungi or bacteria and are actually quite common on Black Eyed Susan plants. Splashing rain, insects, dirty garden tools, or even people can help its spread. The best approach is to remove the infected leaves when the plant is dry. Leaves that collect around the base of the plant should be raked up and disposed of. Avoid overhead irrigation if possible; water should be directed at soil level. For fungal leaf spots, use a garden fungicide according to label directions. Best wishes with your garden. |
