We have a hardy hibiscus tree planted last season on the east side of our house- stays sunny until mid afternoon. There are no signs of it coming back this year. Is there still hope? |
Hardy hibiscus will normally die back to the ground during the winter, so if you wrapped or otherwise protected the trunk, it should resprout from the top. If not, it may sprout from the roots instead of the top of the trunk. It is still fairly early to see any signs of life - rose of sharon is slow to come out of dormancy. Before doing anything, wait to see where new growth emerges. I hope it is at the top and not at ground level! Give your hibiscus tree a few more weeks to wake up from its winter slumber. |
