Plants in containers tend to dry out faster than the same plants in the ground. If you can, set the container in a larger container of water to thoroughly saturate the soil and drive out any air pockets. After you've done that, feed with a half strength dilution of liquid fertilizer (such as Miracle Gro). As the flowers age they tend to fade. When they are spent, cut off the flowering stem and your dahlias will produce brand new flowers. Enjoy!
