Are there any colorful plants that will grow in the shade, in arid Midland, TX >??

You can try impatiens, torenia (wishbone flower), caladiums, ferns, beefsteak plant (Irsene), Aztec grass, purple heart (Setcreasea), dwarf ivy (many types), and polka dot plant. You might also consider using houseplants which thrive in such an environment: pothos, philodendron, ficus, corn plant and Dracaena.
