|I have several kinds of daylilies. I have to move them & I know that they have to be divided.
They haven't shot up the stems for flowering yet.
Can I divide them now? Should I cut them back & seperate the fans now? Will they bloom this year if I do?
|Spring is a great time to dig and divide your daylilies. Don't cut them back, just dig and separate the root mass so that each division has both roots and green tops. Replant and water well. Some of the older foliage will die down but as long as it is green it is helping strengthen the root systems. New growth will emerge from the centers of the plants and they may bloom for you later in the summer. You can prune off the dead foliage after it has turned brown. Good luck with the move!|
