Podocarpus are relatively slow growing shrubs and appreciate rich, moist soils. I would amend the planting area by incorporating compost or other organic matter prior to planting. Plant at the same soil level as it was growing before and water well after planting. Podocarpus will grow in either sun or shade. Feed in spring and again in late summer and it will thrive. Enjoy!
