4 weeks ago my husband used Scotts Weed & Feed on our 1 yr old lawn. The lawn previously had just been seeded by the builder and not taken care of. There are now streaks up and down the lawn. What is the cause of these streaks and what needs to be done?

When streaks develop after fertilizer application it usually indicates the fertilizer was applied in overlaping passes with the spreader. To avoid this in the future, divide the amount of fertilizer you want to apply in half. Fill the spreader with half the fertilizer and apply in a north/south direction. Then fill the spreader with the second half of the fertilizer and apply in an east/west direction. This will ensure a consistent amount of fertilizer will be applied to all parts of the lawn. If you apply in only one direction there is a chance of overlapping and ending up with green and yellow streaks in the lawn. With regular watering and mowing, the streaks will eventually disappear. Best wishes with your lawn.
