I live in Abq. NM, and would like to grow lady bank rose as a patio cover. As compared to wisteria, is it a fast growing? Does it have feelers that attach itself to everything? Will spent flowers create a mess? How big will it get? I was told that root stimulator can be used as miracle grow? How often and in what proportions is it mixed? I also have Italian Cypress that don't grow much. Help!

Lady Banks roses grow wonderfully well in your gardening region. They bloom all summer long and while they do drop petals, I don't think they are too messy for growing over a patio. Wisteria grows fast once established but they, too, will drop flowers so either way you'll need to sweep up litter. Wisteria will twine on its own, Lady Banks will need to be encouraged to twine, but once it does it will intertwine its stems all on its own. Both plants are vigorous growers so pruning will be required to keep them from growing out of control. Wisteria will need more pruning than Lady Banks. Miracle Gro is a fertilizer and can be used as a foliar feeder but is not considered a root stimulator. Full sunshine and ample water will help your Italian Cypresses. You can feed them each spring with an 8-8-8 fertilizer to encourage new growth. Best wishes with your landscape.
