| Some hardy kiwi plants are self fertile. Look for Actinidia melandra, or A. Arguta 'Issai'. These will produce fruits without a male kiwi around. The vines do not drop a lot of litter and the flowers are small so dropped petals should not cause a problem. Kiwi vines are quite fast growing and should cover your pergola in only a year or two.
