|I have planted raspberries and will be planting dewberries soon. I am afraid the birds are going to get to the berries before I should pick them. Is there something I can do to deter the birds? We seem to have a lot of robbins around the yard, but there are other species as well.

|Covering your berry patch with bird netting is the best solution. Just drive some stakes into the ground throughout the garden and drape birdnetting over the stakes. If that's not possible, try hanging shiny objects on the branches of the berry plants. Shiny mylar tape is sold in garden centers; old CD's work, as do aluminum pie plates or even strips of aluminum foil. Anything that moves and that is shiny will usually deter the birds. Hope you get a great harvest this year!
