I have a new neighbor who is cutting down 4 older persimon trees that he is going to take down. How can I get a quick cutting off of them. Sue Parker

Persimmon trees are really difficult to propagate but you can try taking cuttings. Use new season growth, smaller than the thickness of a pencil. Remove the leaves along the stem but leave the top foliage attached. Dip the cut end in rooting hormone and set the cuttings in moistened potting soil. Set the container in a shady spot outdoors and keep the soil moist but not soggy wet. With any luck at all you'll get the cutting to root. Hope so!
