More than likely, the moths are the adult stage of sod webworms that are common in lawns. While the worms themselves can be mildly destructive to your lawn, it?s the adults that are just plain annoying as they stir up and fly close to the ground every time you walk around. Bacillus thuringiensis (BT) is a bacterium that kills sod webworms. It acts as a stomach poison when they ingest it on the blades of grass. The only disadvantage is that it will not affect the moths because they do not ingest the grass. But if you take care of the larvae by treating your lawn now, you won't see a second generation of moths in your yard.
