As long as the soil does not remain soggy wet, the roots of your heather should be fine near a creek. If the soil remains damp, you might want to move your heather to a drier place and plant a bog rosemary instead. You can feed with a general purpose garden fertilizer such as a 10-10-10 once each spring. Enjoy your heather!
