As a beginner in gardening in Texas I have 2 questions. First, something is feasting on my Zinnia leaves. What can I use on them and are they salvagable. The flowers seem fine. And second they are planted with Lantanas and a petunia. Do these grow well together in a garden?? Thank you.

I'd bet there are caterpillars feasting on the leaves. Check them over carefully - caterpillars are often the same color as the stems and leaves. If you don't find any, look for frass (bug poop) on the top of lower leaves or on top of the soil. If you still can't find signs of caterpillars, the culprits may be snails. They don't like petunia or lantana leaves but they like zinnia leaves. Bt (sold as Dipel) will take care of caterpillars; Sluggo will control snails. Your plants should grow happily together. Enjoy!
