when do i transplant a crape myrtle tree? it is too big for the spot that it is in.

You can dig and transplant now, or wait until cooler weather in the fall. Just be sure to keep your crape myrtle watered during the growing season so it can re-establish its root system. After transplanting make a watering well or watering basin beneath the tree. Fill the basin with water, allow to drain, then fill it a second time. Do this once each week. Watering in this way will concentrate the moisture directly over the root mass and allow it to trickle down and wet the whole root system. Best wishes with your crape myrtle.
