Mealybugs are the pests in question and they are difficult to control but if you want to salvage your plants you can dab each and every one of the pests with a Q Tip dipped in rubbing alcohol. This will kill the mealybugs and they can be easily scraped off with a fingernail or toothpick. Good luck with your project.
