BALCONY GARDEN AND PRIVACY - Knowledgebase Question

PLAYA DEL REY, Ca

My balcony faces NW, near beach area. I get sun during the summer months and some protection from wind. Big problem, the building next door is much too close and I need some privacy. What can I do with plants that can help this situation?

Lots of tall growing plants will adapt to growing in containers. Bamboo, Nandina, Skypencil holly or even arborvitae are good choices. Or you can place a trellis in the area and grow vines or even string some twine and grow climbing annuals such as hyacinth bean, scarlet runner beans, sweet peas or Chinese lanterns. Best wishes with your balcony garden!
