There's no magic bullet when it comes to controlling weeds organically. The key to organic weed control is to think holistically. The goal is healthy turf, grown in healthy soil. Growing healthy turf in healthy soil will allow the grass plant to out-compete weeds. Proper maintenance and cultural practices also aid in achieving a balanced soil and healthy grass plants.

Hand digging, roots and all, is the most efficient way to control weeds. As far as organic weed control products are concerned, there are a myriad of products using natural oils, soaps, salts, acids, and other natural ingredients. Other than the pre-emergent weed suppression qualities of corn gluten, most organic weed killers are non-selective herbicides, meaning they kill all plants, so handle with care and use as directed on the label. Good luck with your lawn!
