i had 3 trees, center yard, but one died way back to the ground. i removed and replaced it with a 2 foot high new one. the other 2 are 2 times taller than the new one. can i chop off 2/3 of the 2 old ones, now, so i have semetric look out front. i usually trim in the fall, can this be done now |
Removing more than one third of the live growth on a shrub can cause distress if not death. So, trim them down by one third now and wait for the new one to catch up this summer. If they are still out of whack, trim them down by one third this fall. By next spring they should be almost equal in height. Best wishes with your shrubs. |
