I will plant one more cherry tree in my yard. so how long I will get good fruits to eat?
Thanks for your help.
|The cherry fruit fly is common in your area and when an egg is laid in the fruit, the worm feeds on the fruit and causes it to drop. It's difficult to control the pests but your local cooperative extension office would suggest you hang a few traps in the tree to see if you can catch the adults. These traps are red and sticky so the adults get stuck on them. Most people make their own traps out of pieces of bright yellow paper or cardboard. I use yellow index cards but you can use white index cards and paint them yellow. Smear Tanglefoot (available at garden centers) or petroleum jelly over both sides of the traps and hang them in your tree. The adult flies will be attracted to the bright yellow color and will get stuck when they land on it. Best wishes with your cherry trees!|
