|I live in central Ohio, & wanted to know if you can water a new tree too much? Planted it around May 20th & so far so good. But no new buds have come out yet, it still has green leaves. It's a Cleveland flowering Pear tree. How often should I water it? I've alreadt put a fertizer stake 2 feet from it in the ground. Thank you for your help.|
|Newly planted trees should be watered deeply once each week. The best way to water your tree is to make a watering well or watering basin beneath the tree by mounding up a few inches of soil in a circle all around the tree, about 12" away from the main trunk. Fill this basin with water, allow it to drain, then fill it a second time. Do this once each week. Watering in this way will concentrate the moisture over the root system and allow it to trickle down, wetting the entire root mass.
Best wishes with your new tree.
