The coastal redwood tree (Sequoia sempervirens) won't be successful in Illinois. It isn't hardy enough to stand the winters and prefers foggy, damp summer weather. On the weeping cedar, when the tree is about 15' you can remove the supports. Usually the branches are thick enough then to support the weight they are carrying. At that point, the frame or supports can be removed. Best wishes with your trees! |
