|I've been hearing a lot on television lately about the cancer fighting benefits of broccoli sprouts. I have already printed information from your website on growing the sprouts and where to obtain seeds for sprouting. However, a report I heard this morning on television stated there are certain varieties of broccoli that yield higher dosages of the chemical that helps fight cancer. Do you know which varieties this might be?

|Plants in the genus Brassica have the compound glucoraphanin (Phase 2 enzymes). According to researchers at Johns Hopkins University, glucoraphanin levels were highly variable in broccoli samples and there was no way to tell which broccoli plants had the highest levels. About 2 tablespoons of broccoli sprouts per day will supply all the protective enzymes an adult needs. The research continues, but no additional information is available at this time.
