Your lawn should be able to get by with only two waterings per week if you spend the time to water it thoroughly. You'll first need to determine how much water you are applying when you sprinkle with a hose (I presume you have a fan sprinkler or a nozzle on your hose). Place empty tuna cans or cat food cans on the lawn and then water as you normally do. The key is to apply a half inch of water to the entire lawn. Check the amount of water in the cans. If it's less than a half an inch, turn the hose on and water again, timing to see how long it takes to get a half inch of water in the cans. This is how long you should be out watering your lawn. Depending upon water pressure it could be 15-30 minutes or more. Most lawns will be happy with one inch of water per week. If weather is very hot, you may want to water every 4 days. Best wishes with your lawn!
