Autumn Sage an incredibly attractive shrub for hummingbirds that does well in our desert heat; Penstemon; African Daisy, tropical Hibiscus, or the popular Bouganvillea are plants that bloom in the summertime. Orange Butterfly Bush
(Asclepias tuberosa) produces large, full flower heads in rich golden-orange hues on vigorous plants with deep-green foliage. Grows up to 2 feet tall by 20 inches wide. Gayfeather (Liatris punctata) puts forth 1- to 2-foot spikes of lavender-pink flowers on stiff stalks in early to mid-summer. Blossoms open from the top downward. Blanket Flower (Gaillardia grandiflora) Daisylike flowers with reddish-orange-and-yellow quill-shaped petals (depending on the cultivar) form on low-mounding foliage. Grows to 24 inches high and 30 inches wide. Hope these suggestions are helpful.
