| I recently dug out flowers for a friend she told me to keep them if I wanted them but not sure what they were I'mnot sure where to plant them. the first flower has roots the size of string,a stem that looks like bamboo with small long leaves at each joint, small drooping clusters of purplish/blue flowers that haven't bloomed yet, whole plant about 2 feet tall.

|I really wish we could identify the plant for you but your description could match any one of a hundred different perennials. Check with your friend to see whether the plants are growing in sun or shade and place yours in a similar situation. Since plants are easily identified by their flowers, wait until yours is in full bloom and then cut off a flowering stem and take it to a well staffed nursery. Helpful folks there can help identify it. You may even similar plants offered for sale and you can read the tag on the plant. Best wishes with your new plants.
