hello, we've seeded about a week ago and we've noticed a quarter of an inch grass growing on the lawn. However, we've also noticed some weeds growing alongside the new grass. What is the best way to get rid of them without harming the new grass? My other question is, should we continue with the watering program of 4x a day? Thanks for your helpful tips and advise. Our lawn is looking good!

I know it's alarming to see weeds growing in a new lawn, but you'll need to leave them alone until after (or just before) your first mowing. If you walk on the lawn now to pick the weeds you will compact the soil before the grass roots have a chance to develop and grow deep. So, just wait another couple of weeks. When the turf is about 3 inches tall you can mow it down to 2 inches. Now that the grass is up and growing you can reduce the number of waterings to 2-3 times a day. In another week, once a day and by the fourth week about once every 2-3 days. As you reduce the number of times you water, you will increase the amount of water you provide. The goal is to water deeply so the roots will grow deep. Once established, your new turf should be happy with water every 3-4 days. Best wishes with your lawn!
