we just recently got a new house and put down new turf...how often should we water it and what if it starts to turn yellow. What do we do?

It's difficult to recommend a watering schedule because water needs depend upon the soil type, the grass type, and the weather, but in general terms, provide one-half inch per day (preferably a quarter inch in the morning and a quarter inch in the evening) for the first week; One-half inch per day (preferably all at one time to begin developing a deeper root system) during the second week and one-half inch every two-to-three days from the third week on. Yellowing can indicate too much water, which can suffocate roots, or poor drainage in the yellowing areas. It might also indicate a need for fertilizer. Hope this helps you keep your lawn thick, green and healthy!
