It started getting leaves, then all of a sudden 2/3 of the tree is dead. New branches at the bottom. How can I help it? Live in Columbus, OH. Full sun.

I'm not sure why the top of your tree would die suddenly, unless it was affected by a late frost. The new growth from the bottom indicates the roots are alive and the tree is attempting to grow, inspite of the dead top. I'd leave it alone to see what it does. It may be that your tree will recover. If so you can prune away the dead parts of the tree. Good luck with your maple!
