the leaves on our black eyed susan get covered with a black fungus every year. it seems to inhibit there growth. any suggestions?

The plant may be suffering from a bacterial leaf spot. I would treat the plant with a product called Hi-Yield Copper Fungicide/Bactericide according to label instructions for flowering plants. The product also has activity against fungi if it happens to be a fungal leaf spot. Good luck with your plants!
