I planted some zuchinni that is supposed to grow to 18-24 inches long. I had one zuchinni that was about 4 inches long and then just died on the vine. Is there a pest problem or a disease that caused this situation?

The little zucchini that died was not pollinated completely and the plant just aborted it. This isn't unsual with squash. There are both male and female flowers on squash plants. The females will develop into fruits if pollen is transferred from the male to the female flower. If it is not transferred, the female will begin to develop a fruit but then will stop when it reaches a certain stage. This is what happened with your plant. As the season progresses it will set lots and lots of fruits. Just give it a little more time to mature. Best wishes with your plants!
