What is the best way to care for a patio palm? |
Patio palms can be grown indoors as a houseplant and enjoyed outdoors during the summer months, but needs to be taken back indoors as it will not survive your cold winters outdoors. Outdoors give it a little morning sun but shade from hot afternoon sunshine. Indoors, keep it in a bright eastern facing window or in a western window with sheer curtains to protect it from the direct afternoon sun. It appreciates warm household temperatures and as much humidity as possible. During the months when it is actively growing, allow the soil surface to dry between waterings and then water thoroughly, also fertilize regularly with a water soluble fertilizer for foliage plants such as 10-10-10 plus minors per the label instructions. In the winter, do not fertilize and allow the soil to become drier between waterings. You may have to provide a humidifier during the indoor heating season. Hope this answers your question! |
