|A neighbor gave me a large bunch of daylillies which he dug up in their peak of bloom. I had to leave town the next day so the plants have been sitting under my deck for two weeks. Needless to say the foliage is dried out. Should I plant them now or wait until fall? It has been unusually hot and dry here.|
|Plant them now. Daylillies are fairly tough and I think they'll be fine, but it might be a while before they forgive you!
First, trim away any dead foliage. Then work some compost into the soil at their planting site. After planting, water them in well. Apologize to them profusely and promise them lots of attention and praise. They should get over it and be on their way.
Good luck with your plants!
