|My son gave me a dwarf "closet plant" or "peace lily". I would like to keep the plant small but am concerned it will run out of soil, and when I transplant it will grow to a larger size.|
|Your plant will not grow large like the standard type. You can leave it in the pot until it becomes very crowded, then transplant it into the next larger size container.
Make sure and don't overwater it. I have one myself and if I ever keep it a bit soggy, it develops root problems. Give it a good soaking and then let it dry out a bit before watering again. Closet plants don't need a lot of fertilizer either. If you use a liquid plant food, go with the lower "constant feed" rate. This is especially true if the plant is in a fairly low light location.
Enjoy your new plant!
