| The problem might be associated with the variety, or the fact that you need to thin the fruits when they first begin to develop. Most peach trees need 40 leaves per fruit in order to manufacture the carboydrates necessary to maintain health and to ripen a single peach. So, if you have a dwarf tree, you probably should thin the fruits. Your dwarf tree will have a better chance of ripening only a few fruits. I usually thin peaches so there are 6-8" between fruits. Some of the best peach varieties for your region were developed by Rutgers and include Golden Jubilee, Sumemrcrest, Goldeneast, Ambergem, Jerseyland, Sunhigh, Triogem, Blake, Jerseydawn, Summerglo, Jerseyqueen, Jerseyglo, Autumnglo and Encore. |
