Summer months aren't the best times to dig and transplant, as you've discovered. Transplanting can be stressful for plants, and dealing with the summer heat along with trying to re-establish a root system can sometimes be overwhelming for plants. But, buddleia are reasonably hardy plants so I think yours will recover. If possible try to shade it from hot afternoon sunshine until it perks up and water it deeply every 3-4 days for the next few weeks to encourage deep root growth. When it settles in you should see improvement with its overall appearance. It should put out some new growth later this summer and when it does you can prune away any dead stems and foliage. Best wishes with your butterfly bush!
