I love my elephant ear plants, they grow so beautifully and i know it is a bit early, but please give me the care instructions i will need to use, once it gets cold and to preserve them for next season. |
Elephant ears are awesome in the garden! The foliage is cold sensitive, though, so when the first frost arrives, the leaves will die down. When this happens just cut the foliage off at soil level and dig the bulb. Store it in a cool but above -freezing spot such as a garage or unheated basement. I set mine in peat moss but keep it dry, not moist. Or, you can simply place it in a paper bag to keep insects from munching on it. In the spring replant in the garden and it will begin growing again. Enjoy! |
