I'm so excited about growing statice in my garden for the first time this year! So far, each plant has only one long stalk. Is this what I can expect all summer, or is statice a "cut and come again" annual. Is there any way I can encourage more blooms per plant?

Your statice plant should develop many flowering stems during the course of the summer, so you can expect lots of flowers. If you cut the flower stalk off before it dries, you'll encourge the plant to produce additional stems. To keep the flowers for dried arrangements, hang the entire stem upside down in an airy place indoors. Enjoy!
