Beetles, caterpillars and somethings slugs or snails can make holes in the leaves of vegetable plant. Generally these holes do not cause real problems with the plants so control is not always necessary. It's important that you identify the pests before applying something to control them. Not all insecticides work against all pests and not all are safe to use on all veggies. So inspect the plants, capture a few of the pests, have them identified at your local nursery or cooperative extension office and then choose the product safe for vegetables that will control those specific pests.
