Slugs are easy to control with baits such as Sluggo. Bud worms are harder to control because they are inside the flower buds where no insecticide can reach. Eggs are laid by a flying insect and the eggs hatch into worms which feed on the petals inside the unopened buds. They then exit the bud and pupate in the soil before they turn into adults. You can try cultivating the soil beneath the plants and/or adding a few inches of organic mulch. Be sure to rake it around every few weeks to expose the pupating insects to the elements and to predacious insects. Best wishes with your lilies.
