Wind burn, transplant shock, and sunscald are the most common reasons that leaves turn white on tomato plants. They like lots of sunshine but if they were grown indoors or under shady conditions and you planted them in a sunny garden spot, the leaves can sunburn. Any new leaves your plant develops should not turn white but remain a healthy green.
