|There are a few things that can keep an otherwise healthy hydrangea from blooming. One is winter damage. If the wood is damaged, or the developing buds are killed by a late frost, it won't flower this year. If it gets too much nitrogen fertilizer it will grow lush and green but may not flower. There's not much you can do to encouraging flowering if the weather is at fault. Let's hope it will flower for you next year.
