|I was told my euamous(sp)have scale and there is no treatment. One by one they seem to be getting it. What causes it, and please tell me there is a treatment.
|Scale insects do attack euonymus and lots of other landscape plants. These insects are difficult to control once the population gets large. They firmly attach themselves to a branch or stem and feed on the fluids within the tissues of the plant. They have a hard outer coating which helps protect them from predatory insects, birds, and pesticides. If the problem is truly severe it may be a good idea to isolate the infested plant so it will not spread to others, and sometimes it is better in the long run to dispose of the plant. To battle scale, start by scraping off the ones you can see, checking leaves, twigs and trunk, then spray with insecticidal soap according to the label instructions. Note that the soap is only effective on scale when it is in the softer crawling stage, which is in the early summer. Good luck with your plants.|
