|I was wondering if it possible to split peonies, and if so how should it be done? Also do you know of any places I could order a trumpet vine over the internet or get a catalog to order one?|
|Herbaceous peonies grow from thickened, tuberous roots that tend to form clumps after a few years of being in the garden. The clumps can be lifted and divided in the fall of the year. Carefully dig the plants, cut off foliage, hose dirt from the root cluster, and divide carefully into sections, each section with at least three eyes (pink growth buds). The roots will deeply penetrate the soil, so prepare the new planting area by digging down 18 inches and incorporating organic material such as compost or aged manure. Then plant the new divisions so that the eyes are only about two inches below the surface of the soil.
