Although generally harmless except to boxelder trees, I understand that congregations of boxelder bugs can be unwelcome. There is a very safe solution in the form of silica aerogel, which absorbs the cuticle, or protective layer, on the insect's body, causing dehydration and death. Silica gels (Drione, Tri-Die), boric acid (Perma-Dust) and diatomaceous earth (Answer, Organic Plus) are controls you might use. Follow the label instructions for application.
