|I have pine tree stumps at the top of a hill in my backyard. It is zone 6 and gets full sun. I have cleaned up the soil around the stumps. Will daylillies grow near the stumps or is it to close to tree roots? If not, is there some type of flower that would work around tree stumps?

|Daylilies should grow near the tree stumps. Start with small plants and as the root systems expand they will find little pockets of soil in which to grow. You might also consider planting creeping perennials such as creeping thyme or phlox. These plants are happy growing up and over exposed tree roots and short stumps. Enjoy your garden!
