A friend gave me some grass that looks a lot like Monkey Grass but not as bright a green color. She calls it Bovine Grass but I can't find it in the plant directory. I want to buy more of it. Help!!! Bovine Grass is the only name she said she knows it by.

I'm not familiar with the term bovine grass. The problem with common names is that they are usually regional and can change from one part of the nation to the other. I do know that Liriope is available in several varieties including some with white and yellow variegation. 'Monroe White' has white flowers while 'Big Blue' has intense violet-blue blossoms. There's a look alike plant called Ophiopogon japonicus
which is also a member of the lily family and has a similar appearance. There are several dwarf cultivars of mondo grass available. With shorter leaves and more compact mounds and mats they are somewhat more formal than the casual species with its wind tossed foliage. 'Compactus' is the most compact with leaves that grow only to about 2 in (5 cm) long to form very low dense mats that I think resemble a fuzzy moss. 'Kyoto Dwarf' grows 2-4 in (5-10 cm). There is also a variegated cultivar. I really wish I could pinpoint the grass in question but without seeing it, it's impossible. I can only suggest that you visit several local nurseries to see if you can find the plant in question. Sorry I can't offer more help.
